FBI honors Ross Perot Jr. with award that would make his father proud

Mega developer Ross Perot Jr. – profiled extensively in Dave Lieber’s new book about the Perot family – was honored recently by the Dallas office of the FBI.

Perot was given the “Director’s Community Leadership Award” by Dallas Special-Agent-in-Charge Matt DeSarno, the FBI announced.

The award goes to Perot and his company Hillwood for their efforts to aid in intelligence dissemination of security threats that may impact U.S. businesses.

Since 2019, the FBI said Perot and Hillwood have served on the Dallas Domestic Security Alliance Council, which shares intelligence information with businesses and law enforcement about potential threats.

Hillwood hosted the council’s first virtual meeting.

DeSarno, the FBI’s top man in Dallas, said: “Mr. Perot and the entire Hillwood team exemplify leadership through service in the North Texas region and beyond.”

The award is designed to honor individuals who help combat crime, terrorism, drugs and violence. Each of the FBI’s 56 field offices picks a candidate for their local award.

Perot’s father, Ross Sr., who passed away two years ago, would no doubt be quite proud of his only son. Senior spent much of his adult life trying to help law enforcement. This award to his son, he might say, shows how Junior is, to use the expression, a chip off the old block.

Some of Senior’s efforts are detailed in author Dave Lieber’s new book – SEARCHING FOR PEROT: My Journey to Discover Texas’ Top Family – which went on sale last week. Its’s available only here.

The book details some of Senior’s creative attempts to help federal, state and local governments.
