John Dycus of Arlington, Texas, is one of America’s best editors

Meet John Dycus, a master of the English language.

I’ve worked as a professional writer for 45 years, but working with John on my latest book – SEARCHING FOR PEROT: My Journey to Discover Texas’ Top Family – was eye opening.

It’s hard to explain. Every sentence he touched – and he touched most of them – was instantly improved.

Turns out I didn’t know as much about writing as I thought I did.

John has worked since 1970 as an editor, advisor, mentor and writing coach for generations of students at UT Arlington. He is a leader of the Society of Professional Journalists, Fort Worth Pro Chapter. He also writes the eChaser newsletter; e-mail him at john@xdycus.com to receive it each month.

I have no doubt that my Ross Perot Sr. biography – the first on the legendary Texan in 25 years – is my best book (of nine!) because of John’s editing.

Confirmation came recently in judges’ comments at the Benjamin Franklin Book Awards.

“The writing of the book is very good,” a judge wrote. “The grammar and spelling are excellent.”

Now you know why.
